Starting from the study of pure tension surfaces, this was an exploration of the dialogue between tension and compression, fluidity and structure, lightness and weight. Studies of tension surfaces guided us through their inverse: compression shells aimed at shelter at a model scale, with minimal material and increasing spans.

Through analogue modeling, the compression shells evolved in complexity. Casting was the primary mode of operation, and reiteration allowed for increasing spans. At the same time, modulation played the role of intensifying the curvature of the shell, while allowing it also to support itself without ground bracing.

The photographic process also explored the relationship between light and the varying textures of the cast concrete resulting from different modeling strategies.
